"Rapid response" trade mark dilution seminar

On Thursday 27 November the Court of Justice of the European Communities is giving its keenly-awaited ruling in Case C-252/07 Intel Corp v CPM (UK) Ltd, the battle between the owner of the world-famous trade mark INTEL and the owner of INTELMARK for marketing and telemarketing services. This reference will provide answers to the questions posed of the ECJ by the Court of Appeal for England and Wales (see earlier IPKat posts here for the reference and here for the Advocate General's Opinion).

The Class 46 weblog team, together with Hardwicke Building, is running a Rapid Response Seminar, "Trade mark dilution: the ECJ ruling in Intel v CPM", chaired by IPKat team member Jeremy. The event will be held on Tuesday 2 December 2008, 11am to 3pm (with registration from 10.30am), which is just five days after the ruling is published, in Central London. The registration fee is only £50, inclusive of VAT, and the event carries 3 CPD points. If you'd like full details, or plan to attend, you can download further information plus the application form here.

  1. Risky, Jeremy, risky. What happens if the ECJ decline to answer, fudge or pose their own questions. I hope you're offering refreshments and nibbles (£50 is quite a lot)....

  2. We dedicated trade mark enthusiasts would never dream of letting our audience down. If the ECJ fails to deliver, we still have people who can speak on the current state of dilution in France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

Regarding food, page 2 of the booking form states, in relevant part, "Refreshments. This is a half day seminar including both lunch and
light refreshments". Despite the involvement of Birgit Clark and the Class 46 team, there is no truth in the rumour that lunch will be polar-bear-cub kebabs ...

... oh, and where can you get four well-informed speakers, lunch, refreshments, brilliant networking opportunities and three CPD points for only £50 inclusive of VAT -- or £42.55 if you're VAT-registered? That's less than the cost of a decent seat to watch Fulham play Middlesborough -- where there's no lunch, no refreshment and certainly no guarantee of 3 points ...
